Dear Brothers and Sisters

The Easter experience continues. Bad news always has a dramatic impact on our lives, whereas good news? We can hardly believe our good fortune. How can we retain the momentum of the resurrection? By passing on the message, by living it ourselves, by including other people in our lives, by sharing the word and the Eucharist. That is the way His love goes on…

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

How things change, and how quickly they can change. Today Jesus is acclaimed as a ‘king’. Friday He will be crucified as a criminal. It is hard to keep our cool, to keep calm in such situations. The disciples are all over the place. It will take time to come to grip with these events. It is in such turmoil in our own lives that the virtue of hope kicks in. We hope that through it all the Lord will lead us through the valley of darkness; that He will prepare a table for us in the sight of our foes and that He will anoint our heads with oil.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

With the gospel story of the raising of Lazarus from the dead, we are being prepared for another resurrection. The resurrection of Lazarus was a raising of a man to an existence he already had. The raising of Jesus from the dead, was a resurrection to a new life, with new horizons, hopes and dreams. Jesus can raise us up with him; but have we the courage to live in this new world, with its different horizons, goals, hopes and dreams. “Yes we can”…could be our reply…with the help of God’s grace and the assistance of one-another’s prayers. May this coming Easter be a new dawn for us all.

Have a good week,
Fr. Richard
